NORTH STAR

The North Star project is located in the heart of Arizona’s copper belt. At approximately 47 miles northwest of downtown Tucson, and approximately 73 miles from downtown Phoenix, the project is within the northern Picacho Mountain Range of Pinal County.

The project consists of a combination of BLM and State Land within a historically rich mining district which includes the famous San Manuel Mine to the southeast.

There is interstate and highway access to the North Star project; Interstate 10 to the West and highway 79 to the East with power and railway access nearby. The Central Arizona Project (CAP) canal is adjacent to the project which allows for water draw down.

History

Historic production from the North Star Mine averaged 1.31% copper.  Gold and silver were also recovered during this time. Of all the historic holes drilled, 26 historic holes have produced useful data that will be used in the mapping process. Significant past exploration has been completed by Southwestern Resources, Magma Copper Company, and Tech-Cominco

Moving Forward

Equinox is utilizing historic drilling, geophysical, structural, and surficial geological data combined with its own geologic analysis, to guide current exploration targets. 16 potential targets have been highlighted for the 2012 drill campaign scheduled to begin in March.

The first set of drill targets are planned along the northwest to southeast shear zone which displays the highest values from historical data. A portion of the previous holes will be twinned for confirmation. Current and historical data will be compiled to create a digital block model for further analysis expected Q3 2012.
